Golden Jubilee Year of Shree Vidyanagar High School

Shree Vidyanagar High School was established in February 1953 by a team of dedicated academics. After fifty years it still remains one of the few leading high schools committed to excellence in the field of education. The underlying philosophy of the school is to provide an atmosphere conducive to well-rounded growth of students in all spheres of education and learning so that the youth of today become informed and responsible citizens of tomorrow. It has always bean the approach and endeavour of the school management to encourage students to cultivate good learning habits that stimulate logic and analysis as opposed to methods that promote learning by rote.

The school has never been guided by financial motivations and this has helped the children of struggling middle-class individuals studying in our school to prove their merit and exceptional scholarly abilities in the fields of medicine, engineering, law, literature, art and commerce. The school has produced eminent engineers, doctors, architects, artists, sportsmen and businessmen who are now settled all over the world. We pride ourselves on being an institution that does not take donations to admit or accept students. As a result, students from all walks of life without any regard to race, religion or caste are eligible to obtain admission to our high school.
Our school is well equipped with a modern science lab, a library with an excellent collection of books on literature , a computer lab, an art section to inspire students in various performing arts such as drama and music. We also have a large sports ground to encourage students in various sports.

The computer has brought about a revolutionary change in the way we look at the world. Our institution has always been at the forefront in imparting the right kind of computer education. We have installed proper facilities and employed a highly trained staff to do that job. We have participated in every promotional scheme introduced by the State Government to raise computer literacy in our school. Students of grade X can choose computer science as their subject and take related Gujarat Education Board Examination. We will also encourage any further schemes/projects devised by the State Government for grade XI, XII. In modern schools, classrooms are not viewed as rooms with blackboards and chalk sticks. In order to make lessons more interesting and interactive, it has become essential to use audio-visual equipment. We have been experimenting with this novel idea for quite some time, but we would be very keen to incorporate such facilities as a permanent feature of our classrooms to improve the quality of education in general. Plans are underway at our high school, to make such changes a reality to solve problems related to poor participation of students in the classroom. Our institution is extremely mindful of the fact that we must keep pace with the changing times by adopting the latest trends of interactive and innovative educational methods.

Although the language of instruction in class is the local language Gujarati; we have already started English conversational classes to help our students gain confidence in spoken English, so that they do not feel inadequate and incompetent while conversing in simple English. The proposal to introduce English medium lessons for class v has been approved by the Education Board of Gujarat State. From june 2003, our school will have English medium classes for standard v.In this class all subjects will be taught in English and our school will follow the rules set by the Education Board.

We are still aiming very high. We will continue to scale greater heights to achieve our objectives by our straightforward and honest policy. Our motto has been very simple. ' Good education without any pretentious frills.'
